Stockholm And The Last Couple Days of Norrkoping!

I know I’ve been a little slow with finishing updates about my Stockholm and Norrkoping trip, so thank you for being patient!

After the ABBA museum, Milan, Malin and I took the ferry over to the “old” part of Sweden, and walked through the streets and looked at some of the shops. It was very typical Europe esk!

Fun knick knack store! Milan insisted I wear this and let him take a picture, lol!

We walked for a few hours and they showed me the palace where the king lives, all the best shopping streets, and we even met some of Milan’s friends for fika! (for those who don’t know, Fika is a swedish term meaning “to drink coffee/tea/squash,” and is usually accompanied by something sweet).

After saying goodbye to Milan’s friends, we went out for lunch at Jensen Bofhus, which is a popular chain in Sweden (basically a steakhouse). I had the lunch steak and it was so good! It’s a 7 ounce steak served with potatoes and a sauce. Yummy!

When we finished our late lunch we walked 20 minutes back to the car and drove back to Norrkoping to make it back in time for supper (lol)! It was about a two hour drive back but we made it in time for Kicky’s delicious supper. She made a chicken and rice dish, and it was so tender it literally melted in my mouth. They certainly fed me well that weekend!

That evening we all relaxed and watched America’s funniest home videos (Ally – it was the one when the little girl with the water wings has the really long trip into the pool! haha)

I went to bed at around 10 pm, since I was so tired from our fun busy day!

The next day breakfast was served at around 9 and it was again meat, cheese, eggs, and tomato etc, and it was so good. I think I need to purchase some of those things for breakfast at res!

Kicky offered to take me on a walk around Norrkoping before having lunch with her sister’s family and mother, and it was very nice. She took me on a different route than Milan, and explained how the school system works and showed where Kajsa goes to school.

I really like the town of Norrkoping. It’s very beautiful with all it’s trails and architecture. I hope to maybe go back with my family when they visit!

When Kicky and I returned from our walk, we got ready for everyone to come over. Kicky made a salmon dish with potatoes and salad, and we had amazing ice cream for dessert. Kicky’s family is so nice! Her sister sat next to me and we chatted the whole time. Alice and Alegott were there as well sitting next to their mom and being adorable. Kicky’s mom was very sweet as well and asked me lots of questions!

I couldn’t have met a better family! The Swedes are very hospitable!

When I was saying goodbye to go to the bus with Milan, Kicky told me to come back soon whenever I could! So I might have to take them up on their offer very soon!

Milan was very nice and waited until the bus pulled away before he left! Very sweet. I thanked him so much for the lovely weekend and he said “No problem Maggie Maggie!”

It was really nice to have a change of scenery and get to experience family life again and particularly Swedish family life! I learned a lot about their culture and how things are done in terms of education and family gatherings, and I was really thankful to have met them.

I was happy though when the bus pulled into Jonkoping because it felt familiar and almost like home! That moment made me realize how much I love it here in Sweden and in Jonkoping. Everything has been great so far, with minor “Pothier” inconveniences (Lol, Dad…you get me) but I can’t complain too much. How can I complain when everyone is so nice!

I hope you have enjoyed my experiences so far, I am really glad to share my adventure with everyone! Lot’s more fun to come!! Stay tuned.
