A few weeks ago I went to Gothenburg (Sweden’s second largest city) with my friends Shu-Ren and Tom (Australian) and Marloes and Danielle (Netherlands)! It was an amazing city, and we saw so much!
Since Gothenburg is only two hours away by bus, we decided just to do a day trip to the city. We left at 7 am, and got there by 9! We were quite tired and hungry so we decided to get some breakfast! I had a delicious hot chocolate and sandwich.
Afterwards we decided to walk around to find this soccer stadium that Marloes wanted to go to (her and her brothers are big fans).
Once we saw the stadium, we decided we would go to this large park that’s in Gothenburg which was about a thirty minute walk. It was a lovely walk though because we got to see a lot of the city. The architecture and parks are beautiful, and they have some amazing views in Gothenburg. Before we got to the park we walked up a large hill to a look off of the city. I’m not sure what the castle thing was called, but it was neat!
It’s all about the climb…
Jon or Jen??
We continued on and went by an awesome church, but sadly it was closed for visitors 😦
We finally found the park which is huge! (Sorry to not have many pictures of the park, my camera battery died 😦 )
There was so many people there. Many had kids that they were towing around on sleds, so cute! We probably stayed at the park for two hours because there was so much to see! The park has a zoo type thing, and they have many animals; horses, seals, sheep, goats, peacocks, other types of birds, penguins, moose…Marloes in particular was very excited about the moose! She took hundreds of photos! I guess they don’t have moose in the Netherlands?
After the park we walked through the city and decided to go shopping. Shu-Ren and I found some neat Swedish stores, and I even bought a top for $10!
At around 6 we went back to the train station and had a bite to eat and relaxed until our bus at 8. I had a chicken pasta dish and it was really good!
We were so tired from our long day, but it was definitely worth it! On the way home I didn’t even sleep. Shu-Ren and I chatted up a storm!
Though our trip was fun, It was nice to return to Jonkoping and have a good nights sleep! I would definitely go back to Gothenburg if I had the chance. Apparently there is not a lot of tourist things open in the winter, so maybe I could go in the spring?
Something to consider putting on my to do list!
