Trip to Copenhagen – Part 3 : Helsingor!

After our crazy adventure in Copenhagen, Vroni, Harry and I decided to go to Helsingor and then take the ferry to Helsinborg, Sweden in order to take a bus from there to Jonkoping!

The city of Helsingor is situated on the northeast coast of the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark.  It is known internationally for its castle Kronborg,  where Shakespeare’s play Hamlet is set!

We took the train from Copenhagen to Helsingor which took about 50 minutes, and when we went outside of the trains station we could see Kronborg Castle in the distance!

Kronborg is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe and has been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites list. Apparently it is listed as one of the must see tourist attractions of 2014!

We walked around the Castle before going inside the courtyard and then  into the castle itself which is a museum. This castle has a moat! So awesome!

There was a spot in the museum/Castle where kids could do drawings of the castle etc and even play with lego. Very cute! These kids are talented!

Door to the castle

We spent a couple hours at the castle and gift shop before taking the ten minute ferry over to Sweden! How convenient!

We stopped for bite to eat before boarding our bus to Jonkoping and we got back home at around 2 am.

Overall it was an amazing trip! I can’t believe we did four cities in four days! I would highly recommend visiting these places if you come to Scandinavia. There is something for everyone!

Now I am on to my next adventure! Today I am heading back to Copenhagen to meet my boyfriend Shane who arrives today from Canada! We are then going to Rome and Paris for  two weeks, so stay tuned for my next posts!
